ROAD REPORT (July 18, 2010)

Adams Lake Lumber (Interfor) will be hauling logs down the Minova Road from Monday through Friday, starting Monday, July 19th, until about mid August.  There will be a sign at the bottom of the road, advising you that there is active hauling.  They will be starting early in the morning, and the last logging truck will be off the gravel road by 3:30 in the afternoon.  There will only be one truck approximately every hour, so if you see one truck, it’s unlikely you’ll see another, as it only takes 25 minutes or so to come up the gravel road to the resort.  The drivers are well aware that there will be trucks, campers, trailers etc. on the road, so they will be travelling slowly, and watching out for you, too!

The Minova Road, for the first 10 km, has been recently graded, so is in very good shape, other than the dust on these hot dry days!

We’ve been told that the Adams Lake Road, for those guests travelling from the Shuswap area is in excellent shape – well graded, and widened, to make for an easy journey, especially with a trailer.  We do recommend you turn onto the Agate Bay Road from Km. 19 at Agate Bay, then come up the Minova Road, rather than the turnoff at the 26/28 Km mark, as it is very steep, windy, and rough.

FISHING REPORT (July 18, 2010)

We’ve had a week of hot dry weather, and the fish are coming up on the shoals to feed.  Mayflies are still hatching, as are damsel flies, dragon flies, and, now, caddis.  So try anchoring and casting with a dry line (with or without a sink tip) onto the shoals, and watch that fish go for your fly.  For trolling flies, red careys, black Doc Spratleys with a red tail, and sparkle bodied woolley buggers have all been working very well.

Recent depth finders have also found that there are many fish at the 40 foot depth, and a few weights with the frog flatfish have been working well on the trolling lines.  Either method, we’ve seen a lot of fish in the 2 lb. range being caught in the past couple of weeks.

Happy Fishing!

Don't forget to purchase your fishing licence prior to your trip. They are now available on line at www.fishing.gov.bc.ca.

KIDS FISHING DAY REPORT (June 27, 2010)

The 4th Annual Kid’s Learn to Fish Day held on June 26th, 2010 was a huge success.  32 children and their parents spent a fun filled day learning all about fish, their habitat and conservation, and, of course, casting and trolling for the Kamloops Rainbow Trout on beautiful Little Johnson Lake.  All participants were fed a barbeque hot dog lunch, and each child went home with a fishing rod and reel, and a couple of grab bag goodies to top off the day.  We hope to host the event again next year in June, so watch for a notice on our website in the Spring of 2011 if you are interested in participating.

WILDLIFE REPORT (June 1st  2010)

Spring is in the air, and the wildlife are loving it.  Deer, bear and hares are abundant this year, and almost every trip up the gravel road you’ll see one or several of each.  Also, the trout are in the spawning channel, and the eagles and ospreys are putting on some pretty phenomenal aerial acrobatics while hunting for their catch
