Frequently asked questions
  • What time is check in and check out?
    Check in is any time between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Check out time is 11:00 a.m. PLEASE, NO EARLY ARRIVALS BEFORE 3 PM OR AFTER 9 PM. We need this time to get the camp ready for you.
  • I am a registered guest, can I invite friends to join us in our cabin or campsite?"
    Facilities at the resort are for registered guests only. We ask that no additional visitors be invited without our prior approval. There is no Day Use area at the resort.
  • Is it true there is a beautiful white sandy beach there?
    This is false, there are no beaches anywhere on or around Johnson Lake. This is a high mountain lake, with cool water and trees that grow right down to the shoreline.
  • Is there cell phone or internet access available?
    There is no cell service or internet access at the resort. The closest reception is Barriere, approximately ¾ hour drive away. For emergency communications, we have a phone system available through satellite.
  • Is there a day use area for non-registered guests?
    There is no day use area at the resort.​
  • Can we bring our pets?
    Pets are most welcome at the resort, provided they are well behaved and on a leash or tether at all times while in and near the camp. Please be sure to let us know when you register that you will be bringing a pet! You can find our "Pet Friendly Policy here"
  • Can I use a generator?
    Generators for RV's, only, allowed between the hours of 10:00 am - 12 noon and 4:00 - 6:00 pm. No generators allowed for cabins.
  • Can I bring an ATV or motor bike?
    ATV’s and motor bikes are not permitted at the resort in June, July or August, but they are most welcome after the Sept. Long weekend, once hunting season has commenced.
  • Do you have watercraft for rent there?
    We have a variety of watercraft available for rent (9.8 h.p. motor boats, canoes, kayaks and paddle boards). We recommend that you reserve them at least 48 hours in advance of your arrival date. Please go to our website, and click on the Rental Request button to reserve.
  • Can I bring my own boat?
    If you are bringing your own boat, please let us know. For use of our registered guests only, we have launching facilities on Big Johnson Lake (maximum 16’ boat and recommended 10 H.P. motor or under), and a dock for moorage (please, no ski boats or jet skis this is a fishing lake) We also have a battery charging station located there for your electric motor battery
  • What are your quiet time hours?
    Quiet time at the resort is 10:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
  • During a campfire ban, can we bring a propane firepit?"
    During a campfire ban, CSA approved propane campfires are permitted, but please bring your own propane to power them. They operate off 20 lb. propane tanks, and can be refilled at the nearby town of Barriere. Link to the Current wildfire and ban status. We are in the Kamloops fire district.
  • Can I buy my fishing licence there?
    We do not sell fishing licences. They are available online, for one day, eight day, or annual licences. Click here for BC Freshwater licence
  • Is the water safe to drink?
    Water to the resort is supplied by springs and it is not treated.
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
    When making your initial reservation, E-transfer is the preferred method for payment of the deposit. Once at the resort, we accept Visa, Mastercard, Interac, Cheque or Cash.
  • Is there a store or restaurant nearby?
    We have a few groceries and convenience items here in our small store, but no restaurant. Barriere has an AG Food Grocery store, and a few restaurants. It is approximately a 45 minute drive each way.
  • What are your resort or cancellation policies?
